Bus ride over the mountains to Mysore

February 6, 2010

Took a 7 hour bus ride two of which were from hell. Don’t get me wrong, it was a very nice luxury bus with piped in Tamil music and clean seats, but we had to take a detour once we entered the mountains. This detour entailed endless speed bumps (they love them here and even have them on dirt roads), dusty fields of dry lands, and a long dirt road through towns that looked like they could have been out of Africa and it did include some great scenery. Actually, the ride felt like a safari in a jeep. We hit one speed bump so hard those of us in the back were catapulted out of our seats to the ceiling and one woman behind us split her lip open (we knew we were in India then as no attorney popped out of the floor to sue). Oh well, we wanted to try to bus, and we did have a very nice bus, it was just the bad roads that that beat us up so badly.

As soon as we arrived at the hotel, I arranged for a nice Ayurvedic massage preparing me for another fantastic meal in India.
