Mysore and on the move North

Last day in Mysore. Really love this city, it has charm, sights, flavor and is one of the cleanest and best organized city we have been to so far. Tomorrow we are flying north and Jaipur. We are taking a sightseeing drive up to Bangalore then a late flight to Jaipur. Spent today playing as if we lived here, made a supermarket run, bought some clothes and generally did normal daily things in an exotic environment – not a bad way to live. Laurie is low on her massages so I have been converting her to naps. It seems to be working! I do have to get her on a long walk, followed by a beer (or two), some warm weather, perhaps some food and BAM she is converted to a nap person (and I save 1000 Rupees – naps are free).

Anyway, this ends the South India portion of our trip and we are really sad to see it end. We have met some great fellow travelers (we plan on keeping in touch with) had better food than we imagined and feel as if we are on the Magical Mystery Tour of a lifetime. The temples, Theyyem dances and people in general have been beyond belief. The adventures have been coming at us from around every corner and at almost every hour. We hope the North is somewhat as exciting - we are sure it will be but, we both believe we have seen the best of India in the south.

  1. Happy belated birthday Laurie! The shot of you in your "White House Party Crasher" sari was smashing. Today is Trevi's 8th birthday, we had a small celebration since we're HOUSE BOUND AGAIN!?!? (third day off and tomorrow, Thursday the 11th, the Gov't is again shut down). Blizzard conditions here today, absolutely the worst weather we've seen since moving here. It was so cold and windy we couldn't stay outside, shoveled the driveway and ran back inside. Another 9+ inches of snow today...after the 28" over the weekend. The whole East coast is getting this blizzard, unlike the weekend storm that was just for us. And I love the city you've just visited...MYSORE...after shoveling snow for the last week, that's our new user name! Good luck with adventures in the North! xxoo Dean
